ECASD IT Department uses a ticket system to properly prioritize and identify issues. If students are experiencing issues with their device students can Login to ClassLink select the Help Desk Icon and open a ticket for their issue. Please make sure the form is filled out with as much information as possible. This will insure a faster resolution time and get the student back to learning.

Damaged Chromebook / Charger Information

CHROMEBOOK INSURANCE

❖ FEE of $25 will cover the damage to the device loaned to the student. The option to opt into the insurance runs for the first month of the new year or new enrollment. After the time has lapsed and/or insurance is not paid, then the insurance will be considered void.

➢ Damage is defined as physical hardware breakage that hinders the operation or functionality of the device while being used within the parameters of the Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP). Damage that occurs through neglect, misuse, or outside the parameters of the AUP will be the full responsibility of the parent/guardian. As found in the Chromebook handbook.

❖ If a Chromebook breaks, the original Chromebook will be returned to the student once the device has returned from repair. Repairs can take two weeks - two months, depending on how bad the damage is / the time of year.

❖ In the event a Chromebook breaks and cannot be repaired, a replacement will be issued.

❖ This policy does not cover lost or stolen devices. The total replacement cost will be charged in these cases, and another device will be issued.

❖ This policy does not cover damage caused by inappropriate use. A replacement will be issued after the replacement cost is paid. The Technology Department and Principal determine this.

❖ If you choose not to take this insurance for your issued Chromebook, the full cost of the repair or the total replacement cost will be charged depending on the ability to repair the unit.

❖ Report all lost or damaged Chromebooks to the Technology Department immediately.

❖ Chargers and Cases are not covered under the insurance.

  • 1st time or repair break per school year: Your Chromebook is covered if insured.

  • 2nd and subsequent times break or waived insurance per school year: The repair/replacement cost of the damaged Chromebook will be the full responsibility of the parent/guardian.

  • Outside repairs are not accepted.

  • FULL REPLACEMENT COST: Up to $450, depending on the model of the Chromebook.

  • PAYMENT PROCESS: Payment for Chromebook Insurance and damages must be completed through ALMA or by check/cash to the building the student goes to. For Card payment: Log into your parent account and select fees (after you accept the terms in ALMA Start) for each student to pay the fee. Fees can take up to 3-5 days to process that the form was signed.
